What's the Best Way to Cover Up Fake Wood Paneling? | Angie's

Many suggest using drywall mud over the grooves between the panels, sanding the paneling, applying primer, then painting. Another suggestion is to use siliconized acrylic-latex caulk to fill the grooves.. This method sounds much easier, but I couldn't find more than one example of anyone doing it. Has anyone ever tried either of these methods?
